There might not be a more important techno artist that is somehow not a household name with new fans of electronic music. One of the most important figures in the history of techno’s beginnings, anyone with an ounce of rave knowledge will instantly know ‘Energy Flash’ within just a few notes. However, that was just the tip of the iceberg when you consider and track down all the projects and tracks that he was involved in. One of the starting points was here in 1995 when R&S collected some of the most successful in this compilation.

Included is perhaps his second most well-known track with ‘Mentasm’ which features his iconic hoover sound which became sound synonymous with rave music. ‘Subsonic Trance’, ‘My Sound’ and ‘Psycho Bass’ were also great examples that show Joey’s ability to write such advanced music. Something widely known was that pre-internet, most thought that Joey was from Europe because of how well he was foreseeing the next generation of techno music. One of the most important tracks on here is ‘Joey’s Riot’ which normally garners exorbitant fees for second-hand copies. Here, it was included as part of his Classics compilation for everyone to enjoy making this reissue an even more desirable release.
