Chris Clark’s latest original album finds the UK producer reconnecting with the raw and impulsive spirit that first defined him. It’s built almost entirely around an aging Virus synth and captures the spontaneity of his early sampler days while channelling a harder, leaner club energy. ‘Gift and Wound’ opens in a rush of rave euphoria and metallic dread, while ‘Infinite Roller’ morphs from fragile shimmer to dense rhythmic surge. ‘No Pills U’ and ‘Janus Modal’ carry that same immediacy, with tracks formed in motion, unpolished but electric. Further in, ’18EDO Bailiff’ slips into eerie microtonal dissonance and ‘Blowtorch Thimble’ explodes with breakbeat intensity. Even the closing ‘Micro Lyf’ feels restless, dissolving into the hiss of the outside world. This is Clark rediscovering the joy of momentum with techno that sweats but never quite settles.
