Duellist makes a big debut on Depth.Request with a three-tracker fuelled by urban tension and industrial energy. ‘Burn Your Way Out’ opens up the ‘Intensive Living’ EP and sets a volatile tone with off-kilter crunch, while the title track slams forward with relentless rhythm and pounding drums. ‘Ritual Component’ closes the originals with hypnotic, machine-like low-end pressure. Remix contributions from Orphx, Statiqbloom and label co-founder G.xist reimagine the material – Statiqbloom’s version is a desolate, melodic descent, Orphx’s widescreen rework is cinematic and tense, and G.xist fuses intensity with hypnotic groove. This EP marks out Duellist as a compelling new voice in industrial-infused techno.
