Bristol producer Break sparked his own Symmetry Recordings imprint with the full-length Symmetry LP, a move tone-setting the label’s clean, hard-hitting d&b identity. First out in 2008, it marked a confident step beyond the singles he was known for, mapping 18 pieces from the blackout drunk funk of ‘Hooked Up’ to the equispatial pulse of ‘Lightspeed’. Kyo’s turns on ‘Last Chance’ and ‘In My Mind’ adds a cool, conversational edge, while SP:MC drops into ‘Too Hot To Hold’ though careful not to upset Break’s precision engineering. Short sketches like ‘In Between’ and ‘In The Blue’ act as tight pivots, keeping the record nimble rather than overbuilt.
