Volpe and Elias are a pair of fast risers who get a leg up on their journey from Mojuba sublabel a.r.t.less. It’s a great platform for their cultured take on dub techno, starting with ‘Process.’ There’s an ever-rising energy in the circling pads, which elevates sleek, frictionless drums. ‘Exploration’ is more expansive and races out a vast underground cavern with dank textures and plenty of reverb, then ‘Knowledge’ allows more soulful warmth to pierce the surface of what is a monochrome exploration. ‘Discernment’ shuts down with closely stacked kicks that are firm in their forward motion and topped with widescreen ambient synths. Timeless stuff.
