Western Lore is a Bristol-based record label that is doing ever more vital work if you ask hardcore lovers. It’s run by producer, DJ and visual artist Alex Eveson aka Dead Man’s Chest who is behind this 12th outing. ‘Orena Roller’ comes in two forms, first the Darkside mix, which has a hugely unsettling bassline howling down low beneath twitchy electronics and fragmented vocal yelps before some happy pianos break out. The Roller’s mix is tighter and more focused in its assault. ‘Yo Yo Get Funky’ is a barrage of choppy samples, minimal drums and stabs, spin backs and excellently reworked rave madness.
