The Year Zero Part One – Blueprint 84

Scottish producer Vince Watson returns under his Amorphic guise with a four-tracker that foregrounds raw, hypnotic techno and widescreen ambience. A follow-up to last year’s collaboration with Tensal, these EP cuts – also part of a wider ten-track project on Blueprint – strip Watson’s club instincts down to a darker, more meditative core. ‘Towards Unknown Worlds’ opens with a creeping, analogue pulse; ‘The Silence Awaits’ widens that into cavernous delay and subtle percussion that invites long mixes. ‘A New Reality’ pushes a relentless, trancey groove, while ‘The Keepers Emerge’ closes on an ominous, sci-fi sweep that leans into the release’s year-zero mythology. Between residencies at Tresor and Berghain and decades on the road, Watson uses Amorphic to pursue atmosphere over flash – immersive, stern techno for late-night exploration.
