Platipus 30 Years 11
Recibimos en nuestras cubetas la entrega número 11 de la serie 30 Years del sello Platipus, con cuatro clásicazos de varios artistas.
Part 11 once again pays homage to the legacy of the UK-based Platipus Records, one of trance music’s most influential labels. Founded by Simon Berry in 1993, the imprint became a cornerstone for melodic and progressive trance. This latest installment brings together four defining moments from the label’s history, blending golden-era classics with newer highlights that bridge the evolution of trance. Side-1 begins with Union Jack’s ‘Cactus’, a towering anthem from the mid-90s when the duo was at the peak of their history. It’s tribal, euphoric and full of that eastern-influenced Goa trance sound. A track that shows the label’s early sense of adventure.
Following it is Art of Trance’s ‘Before The Storm (Gai Barone remix)’, originally from 2015 and now appearing on vinyl for the first time. The remix brings deep, progressive layers and cinematic atmosphere, a perfect modern complement to the Platipus catalog history. On Side-2, Moogwai’s ‘Viola’ is the blueprint for the turn-of-the-millennium trance explosion that happened across the world. Rounding things out is Quietman’s ‘The Sleeper (Man With No Name remix)’, a high-speed psy-trance rush that highlights how Platipus evolved to embrace new frontiers in sound. Together, these tracks show how the style evolved through the label’s history.
