Belgian artist Ga?l’s new album unfolds as a fluid, shape-shifting statement across eleven interconnected tracks. The record drifts between ambient depth and fractured techno, favouring tension, texture and movement over fixed peaks or linear drive. Sounds arrive, dissolve and reconfigure to give rise to a sense of constant transformation, but always with a heft low end anchoring everything. At times dense and physical, at others weightless and translucent, this is unsettled techno that never offers easy resolve. The dank subterranean feel of ‘Erratic Cycle’ is a standout, while ‘Veil Of Mist’ is tense, textural ambient for inward reflection.
