It was only a matter of time before someone saw drum & bass breakout potential in Clint Mansell’s haunting original title piece for Requiem For A Dream (2000), the iconic song pairing mounting compositional climax with the onscreen subject of addiction. You heard it from us: the unknown artists behind Vibez 93 / Fokuz downed flag first. The London Contemporary Orchestra’s bariolaging strings are perfect dusters for the hard metal base made by the amen break here, with the track credited simply as the ‘Amen Addict’ mix. Someone really had fun here, and you can tell by the amount of filtering wrought from the drum bus, not to mention the two B-sides thrown in: a remix of Billie Eilish’s ‘Ocean Eyes’ and a twinkling original treat, ‘Morning After’.
