Exaiter – Exaiter 01

Athenian come Gethenian Stef Mendesidis takes techno to sci-fi horror task, as he cuts the bolt on his own new label, agency and event series, Exaiter. Representing the very same Greek scene that has served as stomping ground since 2015, the likes of ‘Exaiter’ and ‘Spectral Transmission’ show a liking for backroomsy shadowplay and sonic weirdness, the latter track making especially light work of music-box twinkles set against steel-vented beats – a strange but compelling pairing. And despite the name, B-sider ‘Techno’ is hardly generic, bottling an entire sound’s essence in fullest dub-echoic 3D; ‘Terra Nihil’ confounds further with untreated clouds of sloshing, clock-breaking arp chord, set to outpouring toxic fogs and lithospheric under-earth pressure.
