When Norman Cook first toured the US as Fatboy Slim, he left audiences delighted and confused by combining his own big beat breaks and productions with elements of the Rolling Stones classic ‘Satisfaction’. He also chose it for the opener at his first ever Glastonbury slot too. Two decades on, and with the permission of Mick, Keith and company, he’s turned that idea into a record- a bombastic re-make of his late 90s UK number one ‘Rockerfeller Skank’. As ever with Cook, it’s a devilishly simple idea brilliant executed impeccably. In effect, Cook has replaced the original’s surf-rock guitar sample with the main riff from ‘Satisfaction’ and select snippets of Jagger’s lead vocal – all teased and tweaked for maximum dancefloor devastation. Basically, it’s a big dose of nostalgia and party-starting sweatiness all rolled in to one.
