1C3MAN is Italy’s Giammarco Campanella and this is his second outing on the fertile Planet Rhythm label. His grasp of perfectly designed loops is evident for the off as ‘Inebriating’ skates on a booming low end with glitchy motifs peeling off to add to the sense of pace. ‘Coarse’ is like being in a wind tunnel strapped to a cantering horse evading an army and ‘Rush’ is all about the dusty mix of drums and bass that hurry along under snatched vocal stabs. ‘Gate’ follows a similar pathway with late-night melody and unrelenting rhythm in perfect harmony, then ‘Muddle’ lifts its head with some pressure-relieving optimism and extra rays of light. Superb.
