Korum EP – Arts 56

Dutch label ARTS welcomes Frenchman Klint for some of the techno he has long been serving up on labels like CLR and Planet Rhythm. It’s muscular but nuanced tackle, as shown on ‘Korum’: the drums are punchy but the synths are lithe with vocal murmurs bringing the texture and icy hi-hats adding scale. ‘Eventide’ is funky and fresh with the contours of the drums matched by bursts of synths that inject colour. ‘Shadow Ritual’ then ramps up the pressure with chunky loops and linear bass that sweeps you off your feet. ‘Game Theory’ shuts down with a more unhinged synth energy but still tight, clipped drums that operate at an infectious speed.
