Renowned frequency abuser Pierce makes his Token Records debut with ‘Blind Witness’, an untheatrical, pressure-packed set of factory pounders. The EP evokes the vibe of a well-read brute, a polished power press; ‘There Is No Self’ pushes its low-end guttings to existential conclusions, as sword-sheathing SFX stab at the sonic air, unbreathable thanks to the metal shavings littering the shop floor. ‘Vulnus’ leads us into the testing rooms at the back, as crash test dummies ricochet and rattle against various obstacles, before a final ‘Secret Patterns’ track proves said test is complete, bringing bounce-back knockouts and firm, unbreakable designs.
