Punctuality 8 sees Ciel and Mathis Ruffing merge their approaches into a sleek collision of tech, minimal and house. The EP’s opener, ‘Hot Squid’, balances metallic stabs, sci-fi pads and stuttered vocals atop a rolling bassline, recalling the late 90s UK tech house golden era, while Roza Terenzi’s remix recasts it as a sparse, hypnotic tek roller. ‘Little Voice’ layers glossy synths and minimal drum loops beneath a mesmeric vocal, creating a groove-driven peak-time roller. ‘Late Summer’ drifts into electro-leaning territory with introspective pads and plucked melodies and closing track ‘Bong Bong’ combines ASMR-like samples with swooning chord stabs for a psychedelic, meditative finish.
