9 – Kynant 21

After a stellar cut on Paul St. Hilaire’s 2025 album w/ The Producers, Priori returns to Kynant with ‘9’; a four track dub techno escapade full of cavernous delay and woolly textures. This EP by the Canadian production aficionado marks his first EP on Richard Akingbehin’s Berlin based label, and does not disappoint one bit. How can you, with the first track featuring the legendary Jamaican vocalist Gavsborg sermonising over melodic yet sporadic arpeggios drenched in reverb and crunch. It doesn’t stop there. The second track, ‘Isolation Dub’, lives up to its name, as rolling percussion is interjected with sparse synth stabs, before the title track ‘9’ picks up the pace slightly, as a deep, industrial march with muffled voices accompanies the listener. ‘Somewhere Divine’ rounds off the EP, and sees Priori dig into a housier side of the dub spectrum, with a killer bassline jutting out of the snap, crackle and pop of the Canadian’s signature textures and production.
