After featuring in many a festival set over the summer – not to mention those of Ibiza headliners – rising star Cali Lanauze’s collaboration with Aquarius Heaven, ‘Just Like Magic’, finally lands on wax courtesy of Seth Troxler’s Slack 85 imprint. The pair’s original mix (A2) sees Aquarius Heaven deliver a soundsystem ‘toaster’ style spoken word vocal over an enticing mix of alien electronics, undulating synth bass, hybrid deep house/tech house beats and some suitably trippy musical motifs. The accompanying remixes are predictably strong too, with Luciano doffing a hat to his Chilean minimalist roots on a deliciously percussive but sonically sparse workout and Roman Flugel teasing out the track’s more trance-influenced elements on a genuinely psychedelic and uplifting reinterpretation.
