Sophisticcato (reissue) – M Plant 51
Reedición de este clasicazo de Robert Hood, editado originalmente en el año 1999 para la inauguración del sello Duet.
M Plant had implanted the idea minimal techno in our minds well and truly by 1999; and Robert Hood’s ‘Sophisticcato’ was one such burrower. Now out properly, it first came through the short-lived Duet imprint, nailing that description so often seen in contemporary writeups on Hood’s work as «minimal but not simple»; tracks like ‘Sophisticcato’ and ‘Cobra Seed’ would create beds of sticking tension from the same source elements, in this case a pizzicato string VST, a motif that persists over the EP’s whole course. Still miles ahead of things that followed, it rivals ‘The Bells’ in instrumental posture, though it was just shy of being named «The Strings».
