Seelen label founder Janein aka Germany’s Jan Gotze, debuts on Adroit Recordings with a cultured pair of originals. Opener ‘Here & There’ delivers a Detroit-inspired deep techno sound with pudding drums and waify pads all enhanced by hypnotic spoken word musings from Olga Phage. Then comes ‘Quasar,’ which is a relentless, dancefloor-ready track with darker energy, more insistent force and eerie motifs that speak of dystopian drama. The EP also includes standout remixes, firstly VRIL transforms ‘Here & There’ with deep, emotional harmonics and an urgent, quick stepping groove that has a heartfelt atmosphere. Finally, Phil Berg’s remix of ‘Quasar’ ramps up the energy with powerful, driving drum patterns and booming sub-bass for strobe-lit peak times.
