Making it to 25 years deep in the lightning-fast-paced world of electronic music is an impressive feat. Tsunami Records marks that anniversary with a release that, true to form, looks as much forward as it does back, all curated by Christian Wunsch. The collaborative pairings tell their own story as Wunsch joins Arcanoid as Black Forests for the raw, industrial ‘Soft Ruins’, then links with Regis as The Rare Breed for the stark ‘Black Static’, and also teams with Function as Giving Ground for the more atmospheric ‘Residual Light’. Elsewhere, Broken English Club delivers a suitably uncompromising remix of ‘Tied To Chairs’, Microcorps and Sabotak bring sharp, driving textures on ‘Metric Hex’ and ‘Fracture’ respectively, and Rumenige rounds things out with the brooding ‘Dead Receiver’.
