Jeremiah Shaw has been making Detroit electro under the Shawescape Renegade alias and others since at least 2009, logging four years at Submerge Studios in what he describes as a UR bootcamp, outputting a sequence of self-released EPs influenced by Dopplereffekt, Drexciya and Aux 88. Exoframe is his Tresor compriser of five tracks built around a sci-fi frame, explicitly themed after the dead ends of technological overspecialisation. Gerald Donald’s Arpanet project is well-selected for a remix of ‘Terraformers Warning’ then, and the closing ‘Ignition One’ is an updated version of the Shaw track used in Black To Techno, the documentary segment on the Detroit Jit dance scene. Interesting side note: the vinyl version runs five BPM slower than the digital versions on A1 and B1, landing at the intended tempo on a standard Technics.
