Evolucion Acida – Sonic Groove 26106

Only those with their ears close to the ground will know Steve Stoll. He has kept a low profile of late but is actually a New York City techno veteran who lands on the equally influential Sonic Groove label here. His sound is stripped to the bone, crafted on serious hardware and aims mostly to turn minds to mush and bodies into rhythm reactors. ‘Evolucion Acida’ comes laced with wispy 303s and icy hi hats, while ‘Ciclos De Plata’ is more textured and pent-up tension. ‘Vida De La Maquina’ is dense, claustrophobic techno, while ‘Ugar De Alegria’ is more roomy and atmospheric. ‘Consecha’ brings hints of after-hours derangement and ‘Ritmo De Transistores’ is a grinding, mechanical stomper. All bases covered in style, then.
