Berlin artists Alvaro and Domenik wear their city’s musical influence proudly. While closely connected to RSO and its Robus Floor, their sound is rooted in the kind of driving drums and hypnotic melodies that only make full sense at serious volume in a serious room. Their Mutual Rytm debut delivers on every count. ‘Where Thoughts End’ rises like an oncoming train, moody FANK vocals adding genuine unease, then ‘Nightrun’ is glitchier and more fractured to keep the floor permanently off-balance. ‘Crusher Wheels’ is deep, back-lit 4am material and ‘Ashes and Algorithms’ layers eerie melody over bulky drums with admirable restraint. ‘All You Find’ closes the vinyl with taut, dubby greyscale techno balanced right on a knife-edge.
