Rhythm Pressure EP – Emerald 32

Dutchman Remco Beekwilder founded his Emerald label in 2018 and has managed to establish it as a great place for some off-centre techno. This new EP from the boss taps into old school directness and pure machine drum funk. ‘Rhythm Pressure’ kicks of with no let up and just pure drum madness and basic but effective vocal stabs. ‘Domestic Funk’ fizzes with tension and more physical grooves that land heavy and often. ‘Konsequent’ is lighter and more twisty-turny with a squealing lead and impish spirit. ‘Dynamax’ is as urgent and adrenaline-fueled as a hunt for a lost dog after dark and ‘Skanner’ is a pure peak time slammer with alarm sirens that, quite frankly, drive you mad – unless of course you’re off your nut in the rave.
