The final chapter of the SK_X series finds New York’s Holden Federico in melodic and emotional mode. He is a master in the techno world of placing melody not as decoration but as a core component around which everything else is built. ‘Crux’ opens with a singular winding motif that slowly blooms into rich texture, while ‘Hemisphere’ takes classic dub techno architecture and filters it through something more alien and funk-driven. The B side deepens the vibe – ‘Sustained Light’ builds patient, atmospheric hope before the rhythm consumes it, and the title track closes the series with a forceful, shimmering groove that counters the almost impossibly delicate and vulnerable keys up top. Artful techno at its best.
