The Third Room release their third ‘Curation’ on 12″ vinyl, following a guiding principle: make a hybrid cultural space out of sound and various locality. This time, the V/A’s curated by Colombian TraTraTrax affiliate Verraco, who appears humbly on the B1. But first we’ve glacial, tectonic techno movements of Substance Vainqueur with an apparent version-of-a-version of ‘Libration Stone’ – the track makes techno sound like dramatic geology, ice-stabs sounding like the overlapping glacial movements over the span of aeons, and makes such an evocation seem effortless. Skee Mask follows with the much less forgiving ‘Clear Sky’, which sounds more human-made, while fellows 1morning and Regal86 further jack up the dystopia.
