As far as debuts go, this is an assured one from BB. angel on Harmony Records. ‘Shaitania’ is a beautifully imagined EP that blurs the lines between progressive house, hypnotic trance and dubby psychedelia and is all framed around the mythology of a fictional landscape. The four tracks unfold with persuasive basslines that steadily draw you deeper into a world of smudged and smeared synth. From the dreamy drive of ‘Deux Mille’ to the more tribal edge of ‘Kollnische Heide’, each cut balances the sort of emotion you want with the dancefloor weight you need. Mysterious stuff that makes for a high-stakes ride through imagined worlds and late-night hypnosis.
