Bypass EP – Stelus 02

Connor Wall is one of serval Australian techno artists who has broken out of his homeland and is now making moves in Europe from his base in Berlin. His new EP feels like it was built to be played from start to finish, given how it builds with no shortcuts taken. The A-side takes its time – ‘Bypass’ drifts in melancholic and unhurried ways, ‘Listen to Me Talk’ gets darker and stranger and ‘Maple Lok’ closes things out on a slow gurgling hook that just keeps unwinding. Then the B-side flips the energy entirely: ‘Infrotrut’ hits with warm, swampy low end and ‘Ocean Brain’ spins out into full hypnotic turbine mode. This is Wall’s deepest work yet on Stelus, and is for real heads only.
