London-based producer MYTRON has spent the last few years circling the edges of left-field disco and dub, turning up on labels like Kalahari Oyster Cult and Bongo Joe alongside collaborative work with Ofofo and Zongamin. This is his debut full-length and it reads as a careful summation of that period. Kraftwerk’s influence registers less as homage than method, and it’s present in the clipped voicing, efficient sequencing and refusal to overwork an idea. Tracks unfold with confidence. ‘Balzgarten’ and ‘Sugar’ set elastic bass against dry and functional drums, while ‘Keep on Dubbing’ pares things back to echo and pressure. ‘Propeller’ and ‘Highway Maintenance’ stay DJ-facing, before ‘Kosmische Derivate’ drifts into motorik understatement.
