Some 40 years of experience and a Discogs profile so vast his own name appears with 40 different spellings, Olivier Abbeloos is exactly the kind of figure Altered Circuits was built to excavate. Here they present five tracks pulled from DAT tape vaults across three aliases, all dating from one of electronic music’s most fertile two-year windows. Conga Squad’s ‘Combo’ opens with staccato chord energy; ‘Substitute’ builds until a boisterous vocal sample breaks the tension. Holographic Hallucination’s ‘Under The Ground’ delivers twilight electro perfectly suited to contemporary dancefloors. The flip moves through slow-burning piano and closes with Warp Factor One’s Latin-tinged, funky ‘DJ Flavour’. Thirty years old but still sounds like tomorrow.
