It’s hard to overstate the role Sven Vath’s Cocoon has had on techno and especially in popularising it and taking it to more mainstream underground clubs. In Ibiza, too, the legendary weekly parties changed the landscape when they first arrived 20-odd years ago. To celebrate a quarter-century of techno and house excellence, Cocoon Recordings launches the first of a two-part vinyl box set. Volume One unites 15 exclusive tracks from the label’s famous veterans so Sven Vath, Butch, Robag Wruhme, Josh Wink, Extrawelt and more sit with emerging talents like Jonathan Kaspar and Riccardo De Polo. The release captures the full spectrum of Cocoon’s sound – hypnotic, melodic and colourful.
