Lyon-based dance ultimators New Flesh pack up a 34th release, pairing two of the label’s most longstanding affiliates for a straight trade. Boris Divider’s ‘A New God’ gets an Umwelt remix, smelting the vocoder-and-arpeggio mix into a hard peak-time pumice. All the while, Umwelt’s own ‘Digital Ruins’ is heard pulled the other way, Divider stripping the synthwave melancholy back into austere, textural electro, and bringing a decimating array of machine-damned vocals to boot. Both are established figures in the French electro-noir scene, giving this EP the sense of a conversation long overdue.
