London-based Tom Carruthers completes his Skylax run with a third release that tightens his focus on machine-led house. Across the trilogy he has edged closer to a stripped, functional sound. Here, the emphasis lands squarely on physical impact with tracks built to hold a room in motion. ‘Chrome’ opens with clipped drums and metallic synth loops that cycle with purpose, then ‘Agenda (Raw Mix)’ pares things back further with the groove locked into a jacking pulse that recalls early Chicago without the imitations. ‘Beat Down’ leans into tougher textures, pushing repetition until it starts to blur. On the flip, ‘Fade Away’ lowers the light, introducing a more inward tone through sparse arrangement, before ‘What You Want’ closes on a steady, rolling groove that feels settled and direct, carrying the same core idea through to its end.
