Aspiration EP – Electro Music Coalition V 20

At the profaner end of electro lurk Local Code and Yansyet, two rising favourites of the scene as triangulated between London, Russia and Istanbul. Entirely collaborative, ‘Gypsy Water’ and ‘Hey Ya’ are sparked-up, full scale ear-assaults, though they don’t clip the mix enough to saturate the impact of each track where it matters most. That distortive impulse is let up somewhat on the B-side, in fact, where the deep, talking monotones of ‘Drug’ glow like faint lights, unnervingly, dully, but still bright enough to light the treacherous way.
