Aumatra Vol 1 – Fanzine TRV 03

Fanzine takes early stock with the first in a new, various artists compilation series, Aumatra. «A collective vision brought together through techno,» they say, and what unites these cuts is a frosty minimalism and low-key brutalism. Pyramidal Decode’s ‘Cursor ‘fizzes with sparring circuitry and busted loops, Michel Lauriola leans into walls of dubby techno menace, and Yeiem slows it down with rickety broken beats that blow in a cold wind on ‘Dogmas.’ It’s haunting and haunted but Mist Gasp’s stumbling, thudding ‘Finale’ with its sonorous bell pulses might be the standout.
