Aumatra Vol III – Fanzine TRV 05

Fanzine’s Aumatra series has been a fresh injection of techno invention over the first couple of volume. The third pone doesn’t loosen its grip, and, in fact, if anything, cranks up the pressure with even more complex and original sounds. Inigo Kennedy’s ‘Magnesium’ is, you imagine, a bit like being trapped in one of the mega data centres that powers out increasingly reliance on AI – electronics working at max capacity, frenzied connections sparking endlessly and a charge of static that could power a city. SCHRZO manages to bring thunderous impact to a sparse groove that rocks back and forth, and Carmelo Ponente is a molten soup of whirring, hissing and thudding. NX1 and Bartig Move shut down with more lithe, tactile techno that acts as a portal to the dark side.
