Bola De Cristal EP – Kazerne 24

Dutch label Kazerne is heading towards a quarter of a century of releases and is still keeping things fresh: Exhibit A is this label debut for Portuguese sound technician, live performer and DJ Salbany. He covers plenty of basses here, from rusty techno loops designed for deployment in dank warehouses to the more dense and dark pressure of ‘The Man & The Raven’. Its unresolved loops and squealing metallics, pinging kicks and unrelenting bass are all incongruous but somehow form a coherent wall of techno. There’s high speed punch to ‘Pressuaw’, more urgency to ‘Stone Cutter’, this time with a hellish undertone that keeps you looking over your shoulder, while ‘Micropoint’ is a dubby, loopy banger. .
