London breakbeat economist Underkut both makes it and breaks it, with a carefully cut slice of the early 90s gritty-stylistic cake. ‘Both Ends’ first showed in 1991 at the height of hardcore’s unruly crossover years, and this new edition places that long-sought track back in circulation. It gathers the two originals with a formerly unheard ‘Unreleased 1991 Vocal Mix’, all lifted from the first DATs. Reverse-angelic vocals and tweeting end-bar especially impress on the «get raw» ‘Fusion’ mix from 1991. Though the rave market is indeed driven in part by scarcity, we could always see it coming that they would end up more widely available, the old suppliers Underkut, if you will.
