Tom Peters builds techno with real emotional intelligence and he again delivers on that promise across four well-considered tracks on Is Serving. The title cut opens with metallic percussion, textured synths and a haunting vocal hook. Stripped precision is balanced against subtle emotional charge somewhere between warehouse minimalism and late-night transcendence. Ketch from the SYXT collective sharpens the low-end on his remix then ‘Control Conscious’ dives deeper into Peters’ hypnotic palette on the flip. It is dark, groove-heavy and cinematic throughout. Steffi closes with characteristic authority, Detroit-infused swing and warm chords with her usual style.
