Closer 2 – Rave-R 15

On the latest missive from the shadowy, glowstick-and-Vicks-loving Rave-R imprint, the mysterious rave revival crew has chosen to return to two of their most in-demand early revisions. On side A we’re treated to ‘Closer 2’, a lightly tweaked version of their 2019 take on ‘Closer To All Your Dreams’ by Rhythm Quest – a piano and sped-up female vocal-sporting slab of hands-aloft early 90s breakbeat hardcore headiness. Over on side B, it’s round two for ‘I Still Love You’, a 2020 blend that added a sweet and sassy R&B vocal to a weighty blend of house-tempo breakbeats, booming speed garage bass and layered backing vocals. Basically, you get two tried-and-tested, rave-igniting anthems. Whistle crew, you know what to do!
