Narciss is the alias of Nicolas Schmidt, a DJ and producer based in Berlin. His latest EP for Lobster Theremin is an emotionally charged journey that harks back to the glory days of classic trance and techno. The adrenalised opening cut ‘Ludmilla’ is reminiscent of the sound of Frankfurt circa the mid ’90s and is sure to induce a headrush, and equally euphoric is the loved-up ‘Tall People’ up next. Turn over and you’ve got the glassy-eyed coastal breaks of ‘It Gets Easier’ which, had it been released 25 years ago, may have been a worthy addition to the Northern Exposure mix CD series.
