Barcelona’s Iro Aka is the duo of David Iriarte and Carles Rocamora and they are accustomed to roaming through various rhythms and tempos across house, IDM and techno. This EP on Polychrome Audio finds them sinking into deep, elastic techno that’s busy but warm, like submerging yourself in a jacuzzi. Synths squirm around the mix, basslines power on and psychedelic colours swirl around on ‘Direction O’ in particular. Human Space Machine remixes with a darker, more hunched dub vibe, while the Atomic Moog Late Night remix is a stuttering broken beat with rounded edges and occult life forms hiding in the spaces. Brilliantly stylish and immersive.
