On his first LP in 13 years, long-time techno servant Mike Parker shifts into 170bpm drum & bass while retaining his usual gungy pulses and galvanised drums. ‘Earth Energy Imbalance’ opens with precision-engineered drive while wrapping atonal synth forms around stark percussion in typical high definition. ‘Positronic Tentacles’ extends momentum by threading trimmed vocal fragments into a taut rhythmic pulse. ‘Radiative Force’ sharpens mutant funk across shifting envelopes in the mid-range and ‘Lunar Nocturne’ dips into half-time space while ‘Ghost Rain’ and ‘Echo Disintegrator’ carry low-slung pressure and mechanical detail. Detail, rhythm and physical impact are rarely executed this well.
