Former minimal grime explicator Basic Rhythm teases his upcoming full-length Entropy & Energy with a vinyl-only twelveful of supreme drum & bass and jump-up, veering skittish and barest-bones. First up is an unprecedented collab pair with London equal Sully, a man whose productive touch remains unsullied despite the name: ‘Crash!’ witnesses an explosion of desire around a tense and shuffling workout, before ‘Rude Boy’ goes full donald-duck honks set to deeper, delay-offset bass. Then two more collabs follow, with J:Kenzo and Need For Mirrors: ‘Future Shock’ sends a synthetic, wobble-gnarling chill down the vertebrae, then ‘Tivoli Gardens’ bringing bubbling high-reg breaks.
