Ten years of Fides gets compressed into six tracks here as X7 closes the loop on the label’s anniversary series the way any good final chapter should: not with a self-congratulatory victory lap, but with the same curiosity that got it going in the first place. CEM3340 & 2030 and Lake Haze hold down the Detroit-electro foundations here with lush, melancholic futurism and machine-precise melody, while Passarani 2099, PERYL and Nothus push toward newer realms that are more textured, turbulent and uncertain. PERYL’s ‘Res Affair’ in particular is big, bold bass weight that unfurls in vast loops that churn you up amid cascading of synth modulations.
