DJ Ali from Melbourne has been serving up plenty of searing techno the Blue Hour label in recent times, and now he’s back with more of it. This collection shows his wide remit, starting with the tightly coiled drum loops and unsettling synth tension of ‘Bound (Redux)’. ‘Wet Fex’ is an oily groove with deft percussion dancing over harder, more driving kicks and ‘Genetic Code’ then bangs with warped synths worming between the relentless beats. Last of all is ‘Slow Burn’, which pairs atmospheric sounds and a sense of dystopian futurism with a tough, straight-up rhythm that is muscular and mobile.
