Al Wootton’s debut on AD 93 expands his sound into immersive folk-techno landscapes that are at once meditative and also rhythmically alive. The 13-minute opener, ‘Glorias’, slowly unfolds from delicate flute loops and drone-like textures into lush, dawn-ready steppers that echo Villalobos and Arthur Russell. ‘Glorias (Drums Version)’ layers rippling bass and conga patterns over spectral, nighttime atmospheres, while the drumless take emphasises glitchy, contemplative textures reminiscent of ELpH. Across its three interpretations, these tunes balance spiritual depth with subtle dancefloor energy and mark another sophisticated and evocative entry into Wootton’s catalogue.
