Inkwenkwezi – Multi Culti 90

Simple Symmetry’s recent visit to Cape Town continues to bear fruit with ‘Inkwenkwezi’. It’s a collaboration with Thanda Choir vocalist Asandisa Siswana whose title translates from Xhosa as «star». The original places Siswana’s immense vocal presence against the duo’s widescreen club sensibility and creates the sort of emotional big-room moment they’ve become increasingly adept at. Lipelis takes the obvious route and turns it into bubblegum house gold, then Thomas Von Party’s Riddim Mix strips the track down to drums and propulsion. Peaking Lights, meanwhile, wander off towards the acid fringe, smearing colour across the edges of the mix.
