No Ice Cream Sound, a sound system collective based in Plymouth, takes its name from a Johnny Osbourne tune and taps into dub tradition on this new 45rpm. Internal Battle’ is a tense, commanding steppa where Indra MC and Jman lock horns over a judiciously crafted riddim that opens with a cinematic build that tightens anticipation before plunging into deep subs and militant drums. There’s space for razor sharp lyrical exchanges that explore conflict, resilience and mental fortitude. The Lewis Bennett remix on the B-side reinterprets the track with a darker, dub infused edge designed for stacked sound systems. A conscious statement and serious dancefloor weapon.
